I work with some pretty rad folks.

Last Tuesday I took some of the guys I work with out to dinner. We went to this cool sushi restaurant in downtown LA. The food was delicious (Japanese Tacos!) and the view was pretty great too - we were on the 21st floor. Right next door they were throwing an 80’s prom. The first song we heard them play was “Enola Gay” by OMD. All of us at the table love love love music and hearing this track kicked off an amazing conversation about the music we grew up listening to. Turns out we were all “Wavers,” who grew up in various parts of the country listening to Duran Duran, New Order, and The Stone Roses on our Walkmen. We told stories of the mixtapes we made, the shows that we went to (PIL, Echo and the Bunnymen, Ride, Teenage Fanclub, etc.) and we reminisced about the first Depeche Mode album each of us owned (mine was 101 - one of my favorite concert albums of all time). I love meeting people who love music as much as I do. It’s no wonder why I love working on their show so much.

The DJ at the prom followed OMD with songs by Erasure, the Cure, Haircut 100, Eddy Grant, etc. It’s too bad we weren’t invited to this dance. It might’ve been the best 80’s prom ever.
