We have a dodgeball team at work that’s been playing together for a few seasons. Good times. Last night was this season’s playoffs (we came in second place). Here are some lessons learned from last night and other evenings past:
- When attempting to catch a ball, don’t reach for it. Let it come to you. It’s a lot easier to catch after the ball after it hits you squarely in the chest. If you’re attempting to catch a ball that has ricocheted off someone else, or was deflected by your teammate with another ball, dive, jump, and try to catch it in a spectacular fashion. Don’t be afraid to fall into a barrel roll after you hit the ground.
- Aim low. Higher balls are easier to catch, head shots are against the rules.
- Super tall tube socks are great.
- Don’t forget to stretch. Before and after, you’re not as young as you used to be.
- Definitely go for drinks afterwards. The beers, wings, and french fries will definitely hit the spot. When you get home, have some pistachio ice cream. It’s what’s for dinner.
